PANOX
is the industry standard when it comes to fire-retardant textile fibers.
As an oxidized, thermally stabilized polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber
that will not burn, melt, soften or drip, PANOX
is ideal for processing into yarns, woven fabrics, nonwovens and felts.
Applications:
Thanks to a high LOI (Limiting Oxygen Index) value, PANOX
is ideally suited for heat resistant, thermal and acoustic insulation
and technical textiles. Typical applications are fire blocking fabrics
for seating in aircraft, trains, busses and cars, or protective clothing
for fire fighters, armed forces and police personnel, racing drivers
and steelworkers.
PANOX fibers
are also used as an asbestos replacing additive in friction linings
of automotive disc and drum brakes, as insulation material, industrial
packings and gaskets.
Some of the largest applications of PANOX
are its uses as a precursor material in the manufacture of carbon/carbon
aircraft brake discs, and in fire blocking felts for motor vehicles.
