From September 3 to 5, SGL Carbon will be presenting smart solutions and materials made of fiber composites for mobility and industrial applications markets at the China Composites Expo in Shanghai. Under the motto “The Weight and Performance Optimizers”, the company will present its diverse product portfolio along the entire value chain from carbon fibers and textile semi-finished products to finished components made of carbon and glass fiber-reinforced plastics.
Specifically, SGL Carbon will showcase at booth A221 in hall 1 among others a leaf spring made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, which is used, for example in the rear axles of various models of the vehicle manufacturer Volvo. The innovative axle concept with glass fiber-based leaf springs is one of SGL Carbon’s biggest serial projects in lightweight construction and underscores the enormous potential of fiber composite construction.
A further exhibit will be a carrier for the rear spoiler of a sports car manufacturer. SGL Carbon has many years of experience and expertise in this important field of visible carbon components.
Furthermore, the company will be presenting its diverse product portfolio of fiber composite materials at China Composites. These range from SIGRAFIL® carbon fibers and textile semi-finished products to REFRASIL® silica-based materials, which have been specially developed for high-temperature applications in the aerospace industry. Here, too, SGL Carbon offers its customers tailormade solutions from concept development to production-ready applications.
