Ten school students from Meitingen secondary school had the opportunity to gain exciting insights at the SGL Carbon vocational training center in Meitingen.
After a practical work session in the vocational training center, the school students listened to an inspiring lecture by Michael Kühnel, a data scientist at SGL Carbon. Kühnel emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and used specific examples to show how digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) have already found their way into SGL Carbon's production. SGL Carbon also presented the possibilities offered by the use of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and machine learning to optimize processes and increase productivity.
The presentation was part of the DigitalSchoolStory project – career orientation, which runs parallel to the school internship. The school students were able to make their own videos in the vocational training center, allowing them to capture their experiences in a modern way. The aim of the project is to help young people find their dream job and recognize their own strengths and interests.
