On June 8, we celebrated the 90th anniversary of Dr. Schnabel GmbH at our Limburg site. A large part of the workforce and their families came together at the site to celebrate this remarkable milestone with former colleagues, neighbors and guests from politics and business.
The roots of Dr. Schnabel GmbH go back to 1934, when it was founded by Dr. Ernst Schnabel in Berlin. In 1945, the company moved to Limburg and with it the business with PTFE-lined pipes. In 1950, Dr. Schnabel GmbH was the first European manufacturer of paste-extruded PTFE linings. In 2007, the company was taken over by SGL Carbon and integrated into the Process Technology business unit.
Over the years, the site has been continuously developed to meet the growing demand for PTFE-lined pipes. Today, around 50 people are employed in Limburg.
Comments on the anniversary:
- Oliver Seidel, Head of Business Unit Process Technology: “The success of Dr. Schnabel GmbH is down to our employees. Thanks to their continuous commitment and their willingness and ability to constantly develop our technological and manufacturing expertise, Dr. Schnabel GmbH is where it is today. A world market leader in the niche area of “PTFE components and systems for industrial use” - known far beyond the borders of Limburg and an important pillar in the production and know-how network of the Process Technology business unit and thus of SGL Carbon."
- Jürgen Kopka, site manager in Limburg: “I am proud of the continuous development of the site into one of the market leaders for PTFE-lined components. I would like to thank all employees, both current and former, who have contributed to this."
