Responsibility in the supply chain
As a globally operating company with a diversified multinational customer structure, SGL Carbon maintains diverse business relationships.
SGL Carbon expects all business partners to commit themselves to lawful, ethical and sustainable ecological behavior in the context of their cooperation to the same extent as SGL Carbon.
To ensure this, a Code of Conduct has been introduced for suppliers and their subcontractors. 100% of the major existing suppliers have committed to comply with the code.
As part of the preparations to comply with the German Supply Chain Sourcing Obligations Act (LkSG), all our active suppliers have received an Online Supplier Risk Assessment questionnaire. The Online Supplier Risk Assessment contains standard elements on sustainability, such as ethics and compliance, risks regarding human rights and environmental risks (environmental and climate protection; human rights; responsibility in the supply chain; occupational health and safety; combating bribery and corruption, cybersecurity). The results of the online questionnaire are incorporated into the risk assessment of the respective supplier with the aim of eliminating or mitigating any identified risks or, if necessary, initiating sanctions.
Compliance
We comply with applicable law in all our business dealings. At SGL Carbon, however, compliance means more than adherence to rules and regulations or external and internal guidelines and standards. For us, compliance also means integrity, honesty and integrity as well as business ethics.
The Code of Conduct is our basis and sets standards for responsible and lawful behavior. In addition to the Code of Conduct, SGL Carbon's Compliance Program includes further internal requirements, guidelines and training for various target groups and specific topics.
