Does that sound exciting to you? By joining us, you can immerse yourself further in this area and use the opportunity to gain your first experience at SGL Carbon – working as an intern or working student, or for your thesis or dissertation. We offer many possibilities to get involved in our intelligent solutions.
The passion for the material carbon and the great working atmosphere - that already convinced me during my master thesis here. As a newly qualified engineer, I was very happy to accept the job offer and am now working on leading-edge manufacturing technologies for lightweight components.
Matthias Durant, Process Engineer Lightweight & Application Center, Meitingen
Fairness plays an essential role in our company. For students, for example, this means that we offer internships that can help you to decide on the direction you want your career to take. And we will never assign tasks to you for which you are overqualified. You will have access to knowledgeable contacts and we also ensure that we pay our interns and temporary student employees fairly. We do not fob graduates off with the offer of an internship if they have applied for a permanent position.
That is why we support the Fair Company employer initiative (see below), which has advocated quality standards and clear rules for internships since 2004.
Put the theoretical knowledge from your studies into practice. As part of your internship, you will get to know SGL Carbon's areas of activity and find out which tasks you are particularly suited to. You will be actively involved from day one, regardless of whether you are completing a mandatory or voluntary internship. A personal advisor will support you through the entire internship, which usually lasts for three to six months.
I was excited about how directly I was involved in the day-to-day work as an intern whilst at the same time being supported. Here you can also exchange ideas beyond your own department and make contacts. In doing so, a great idea developed for my final thesis at SGL.
Lisa Bücher, Intern & Bachelor's degree candidate, Wiesbaden
Would you like to work for us alongside your studies? As a working student at SGL Carbon, you will continually expand your knowledge and grow professionally alongside your studies – for example on long-term projects.
Are you looking for an expert partner for your final thesis? SGL Carbon offers a wide range of exciting, forward-looking areas, often involving the latest technological issues that our Research & Development department is working on. Such a subject area for your bachelor's or master's can lay the foundations for your future career. Our mentors will be at your side throughout your work.
Apparently I just can't get enough of the material carbon. At SGL I was an intern first, then a master's student, and now I'm here again for my doctoral thesis. I like to tell you the reason: it's not just the carbon, it's also the innovativeness and the great colleagues.
Abhishek Ramakrishna Shetty, PhD candidate, Meitingen
