Joining SGL as a graduate or student

Apply to SGL as a graduate or student. Joining us will open up a wide range of development and career opportunities for you

Carbon is shaping the future. Your future.

Whether it is sustainable mobility, renewable energy sources, or cross-sector digitization, we are working with our customers to develop smart solutions in these areas. We need talented people like you for this. Support us with your ideas and your commitment – we can offer you a future-oriented position with responsibility and scope for personal and professional development.

Carbon can be found in almost all areas of life, from sophisticated, light-weight solutions in the automotive and aerospace industries to components used in renewable energy generation or in vital medical equipment. Every day, carbon is becoming more important as a material.

Does that sound exciting to you? By joining us, you can immerse yourself further in this area and use the opportunity to gain your first experience at SGL Carbon – working as an intern or working student, or for your thesis or dissertation. We offer many possibilities to get involved in our intelligent solutions.

The passion for the material carbon and the great working atmosphere - that already convinced me during my master thesis here. As a newly qualified engineer, I was very happy to accept the job offer and am now working on leading-edge manufacturing technologies for lightweight components.

We offer fair working conditions and appreciation for your work

Fairness plays an essential role in our company. For students, for example, this means that we offer internships that can help you to decide on the direction you want your career to take. And we will never assign tasks to you for which you are overqualified. You will have access to knowledgeable contacts and we also ensure that we pay our interns and temporary student employees fairly. We do not fob graduates off with the offer of an internship if they have applied for a permanent position.

That is why we support the Fair Company employer initiative (see below), which has advocated quality standards and clear rules for internships since 2004.

Gain practical experience with an internship at SGL Carbon

Put the theoretical knowledge from your studies into practice. As part of your internship, you will get to know SGL Carbon's areas of activity and find out which tasks you are particularly suited to. You will be actively involved from day one, regardless of whether you are completing a mandatory or voluntary internship. A personal advisor will support you through the entire internship, which usually lasts for three to six months.

SGL offers great opportunities to gain practical experience while studying. First as an intern, later as a working student and then as Bachelor student, I was thrilled by the exciting tasks, the working atmosphere and the internationality. That's why I was also very happy to be able to join the team here after my graduation.
