For the production of SIGRACELL GFG expanded graphite powder SGL Carbon uses only high-quality and high-purity natural graphite flakes as raw material. The flakes are mixed with a highly oxidizing acid forming an intercalation compound which is expanded via thermal decomposition. The resulting loose worms of pure graphite are compressed into foil without the use of any binders or fillers. In the last step, the foil is ground into SIGRACELL GFG powder.
