For many years, SGL Carbon has been providing vocational training in a wide range of occupations, whether at our sites in Bonn, Meitingen, Willich, Innkreis, or Poland. In their final examinations, SGL trainees repeatedly achieve outstanding results: in 2021, a state best in the apprenticeship as a testing technologist for ceramics was awarded at the Bonn site.
This year, Janine Nanette Kretzschmar from Meitingen is one of the trainees with top results. On March 16, 2023, the IHK regional managing director, Jens Walter, ceremoniously honored the national best for her outstanding performance and handed her a certificate. During his visit, he also acknowledged the commitment to dual training: "The quality of vocational training in our region is high. This is clearly demonstrated by the performance of Janine Kretzschmar and the many other outstanding trainees." The mayor of Markt Meitingen, Dr. Michael Higl, and Dr. Fabian Mehring, member of the state parliament, were also present at the awards ceremony at the SGL site in Meitingen.
Back in February 2022, Janine completed her training as a process mechanic as one of the best graduates in Germany and achieved the best exam result among process mechanics for plastics and rubber technology specializing in fiber composite technology. The training lasted a total of three years, during which Janine learned everything about the processing of fiber composite materials.
For Janine, the fascination for carbon as a material came early on: "As early as the 7th grade, I was thrilled by components made of carbon. At first it was the appearance that fascinated me. Later, I asked myself how such a beautiful material could have such unbeatable properties. In the end, I was convinced by the handcrafted production during my internship at SGL. Even though I rather disliked chemistry and the plastics part of the handicraft lessons at school - now it's my dream job and I love it!"
Uwe Moderer, head of apprenticeship at the Meitingen site, is proud: "I am very pleased that Janine has achieved such a great performance in her apprenticeship and that she can now start her working life with us."
At the same time, the traditional ceremony on completion of the apprenticeship was also held in Meitingen on Thursday, at which all apprentices who finished their training at the beginning of 2023 were officially bid farewell by the site and HR management and received their training certificates. "Since we train for our own needs, we can offer a contract to all apprentices who have completed their training and are pleased that the former apprentices will remain with us," said Angelika Lippert, HR Manager at the Meitingen site.
