The apprentices of SGL Carbon presented the Federal President a 3D printed elephant made of graphite powder as a gift.

Today, the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, visited the SGL Carbon production facility in Bonn-Mehlem as part of a three-day stay at their official residence in Bonn.

After listening to a presentation about the company by the CEO, Dr. Jürgen Köhler, the head of the Business Unit Graphite Materials and Systems, Burkhard Straube, and the plant manager, Dr. Thomas Metzinger, the Federal President and his wife talked to the employees about various topics, including training and education. They then met with representatives of the Bonn works council and its chairman, Dieter Züllighofen.

“It was a great honor for us to welcome the Federal President and his wife,” says Dr. Jürgen Köhler. “We were thrilled by the deep interest that Mr. Steinmeier and Ms. Büdenbender expressed in our Company and, above all, in our colleagues, many of whom they talked to in person.”
