SGL Group – The Carbon Company has qualified the synthetic resin-impregnated DIABON® NS2 graphite for pressure equipment for use at a maximum temperature of 220°C. Heat exchangers, columns, quenchers, syntheses, systems and components can therefore be used at significantly higher temperatures, for example for corrosive applications and in the chemical industry. The AD-Merkblatt N2 and TÜV Süd have certified that use up to 220°C is safe and reliable.
The high-performance graphite DIABON® NS2 is produced by SGL Group using a special post-treatment process. This production process, which maintains the outstanding thermal conductivity and complete impregnability of the components, enables the resin-impregnated proportion to be reduced from 20% to approx. 12%. The reduced level of resin cuts corrosion caused by aggressive substances and keeps the materials' structure highly stable, even at extreme temperatures. Users of DIABON® graphite can enjoy even more outstanding features than before and have the opportunity to optimize new and existing processes in terms of availability and temperature levels.
Burkhard Straube, Head of the Business Unit Graphite Materials & Systems (GMS) at SGL Group: "This extended approval underpins the core expertise of SGL Group in the field of corrosion-resistant equipment and system solutions – particularly our wide range of materials, our engineering know-how and the comprehensive services we offer throughout the plants' life cycle."
