Rigid felts for high-temperature furnaces

Stable in shape, thermal shock resistant, erosion resistant.

Rigid felt is a rigid insulation material with low thermal conductivity based on carbon fibers. It shows its best performance in temperatures beyond 800°C in inert gas or vacuum furnaces.

A carbon based bonding material locks the fibers in a rigid structure, that can be offered in plates or cylinders. Also 3D shapes are possible by our machining.

We market our rigid felt products under the brand name SIGRATHERM.

Rigid felt is produced by mixing and pressing of fiber material and binder, followed by high temperature treatment at temperature up to max. 2,800 °C. In the final production step the rigid felt is machined to the desired dimensions.

Also manufacturing of laminated panels with C/C or graphite foil layers as well as the application of an edge and erosion protection is possible.

Manufacturing of SIGRATHERM rigid felt — SGL Carbon's SIGRATHERM^® rigid felt is produced by mixing and pressing of fiber material and binder, followed by high temperature treatment. In the final production step the rigid felt is machined to the desired dimensions.
