This year's prestigious Günter Schwank Prize goes to our former apprentice Janine Kretzschmar. She completed her training at the Meitingen site as a process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology in 2022 as one of the ten best in Germany. The prize is named after the entrepreneur and visionary Günter Schwank and is awarded every year by the associations of the plastics processing industry in cooperation with the chambers of industry and commerce to top trainees in the plastics industry. The award is endowed with a total of over 5,000 euros and is divided among the ten best trainees of the year.
Site Manager Alexander Miehling warmly congratulated Janine on her success: "We are delighted with the award and Janine's great result. For us, training is an important building block for securing skilled workers. The award of the Günter Schwank Prize confirms that we are on the right path." Sven Weihe, Managing Director of pro-K Industrieverband langlebige Kunststoffprodukte und Mehrwegsysteme e.V. and responsible for vocational training within the Gesamtverband Kunststoffverarbeitende Industrie e.V., presented Janine Kretzschmar at SGL Carbon with the Günter Schwank certificate and also paid tribute to the company providing the training and the Wasserburg am Inn vocational school involved. Weihe attested to the golden career prospects for the best in Germany: "The future opportunities for top graduates of in-company training have never been as promising as they are today - I am sure that Janine still has a great path ahead of her in the industry."
The Young Talent Award is named after Günter Schwank, who was committed to promoting young talent in his roles as President and Honorary President of the GKV and as an honorary board member of pro-K. The aim of the award is to recognize the special commitment of young trainees and to raise public awareness of the promotion of training and talent in companies. The training award therefore honors companies and institutions that strengthen the training and development of young people through strategic foresight and special support at the same time as the best of the year.
