On September 2, 2019, 44 young people began their professional careers at multiple SGL Carbon sites in Germany and Austria. In Meitingen and Bonn, Germany, as well as the Austrian town of Innkreis, they started their apprenticeships in various technical and commercial professions as well as dual study programs.
The apprentices will be prepared for their later careers as specialists in various vocations, including industrial management assistant, process mechanic, machine and systems operator, mechatronics specialist and electrician. Plus, for years, SGL Carbon has offered a dual study program with a focus on economics or technology, such as mechanical engineering.

Traditionally, the apprenticeship is an important source for covering personnel needs in the commercial technical sector. This is more important than ever, with a shortage of skilled labor making itself felt. Thus, our apprentices and dual students are part of SGL Carbon’s future.”
