30 young people started their working lives at SGL Group – The Carbon Company – on September 1, when they were received by the site manager, personnel director, training director and representatives of the works council. The soon-to-be specialists will receive technical and commercial training for different occupations at three sites in Germany: Bonn, Limburg and Meitingen.
The offering of specializations is again quite manifold. It includes the occupations of laboratory technician, information technology officer, industrial mechanic, machine and systems operator, process engineer, cutting-machine operator and industrial management assistant. For years SGL Group has also been offering the dual course of studies which combines occupational practice at companies with academic work at school – this year the Bachelor of Engineering in conjunction with the “Duale Hochschule Baden-Wuerttemberg”.
Dr. Markus Partik, manager of the SGL site in Meitingen and CEO of the German subsidiary SGL Carbon GmbH: "For technology companies such as SGL Group, the steady development of competent and committed new blood is key to success. We consciously strive for continuity in our training and wish all of our trainees a great start and a productive apprenticeship."
Hans Josef Moor, Coordinator for apprenticeship at SGL Group in Germany: "On-site training provides young people with the unique opportunity to acquire, instructed by specialists, in the field of future technologies the experience-based skills they will need in their subsequent career path."
The application process for the September 2017 start of the apprenticeships is already underway. For more information on the positions offered and on the application procedure, go to www.ausbildung-bei-sglcarbon.de .
