ECOPHIT® Graphite Lightweight Construction Panels

SGL Carbon’s ECOPHIT L graphite lightweight construction panel is a homogeneous, binder-free material made from expanded natural graphite. Because of the graphite’s high thermal conductivity, cooling ceilings fitted with such systems typically provide excellent heat distribution across the surface. Due to its compressibility ECOPHIT L panels are suitable for incorporating a wide variety of meander tube systems.

ECOPHIT L is easy to process and can be cut or assembled without special tooling. The panels are available in various dimensions and densities. Low contents of halogens and sulfur of less than 200 ppm each avoid corrosion caused by impurities as good as possible.

To produce ECOPHIT L graphite lightweight construction panels the raw material natural graphite is expanded in a finishing process. Natural graphite consists of pure carbon layers lying parallel to each other. Warmth and cold are transported along these flakes. The expansion process increases the volume of the tiny graphite flakes by a factor of between 200 and 400. As a result, the density and the weight decrease. Through compression to panels, the thermal conductivity increases. Both characteristics can be controlled in a targeted way during production – a benefit in the application with ECOPHIT L.

Thanks to the high performance of the overall system, the radiant ceiling equipped with ECOPHIT L achieves a desirable indoor climate very quickly. It provides a comfortable room temperature not only without draughts or dust swirls but also without noise pollution. The pleasant room acoustic is an added bonus.

Radiant ceilings with ECOPHIT L’s high level of efficiency saves on materials for ceiling installation - 15% less active surfaces allow more room for design features such as lighting or technology. A wide variety of surface designs are available to suit individual styles.

ECOPHIT LN laminated lightweight construction panels are ECOPHIT L panels reinforced on one side with a non-woven fabric making the panel more stable and easier to handle - another advantage for our customers. All other benefits and properties are identical with those of ECOPHIT L, e.g. meander tube systems can be pressed into ECOPHIT LN easily as well.
