High-density SIGRATHERM graphite foil is manufactured from natural graphite via an expansion process followed by intensive calendering without the use of adhesives or binders.
The foil’s flexibility allows a very good form locking on surfaces and thus a virtually lossless transfer of heat or cold. The in plane thermal conductivity of 400-500 W/mK enables optimal heat dissipation in the respective application.

During the manufacturing process of flexible graphite foil, the natural graphite's inherent very good electrical and thermal conductivity is retained. The expansion process enhances this property even further. The graphite undergoes an enlargement of its surface, which leads to a significant reduction of its density and thus weight. At the same time, the thermal conductivity improves during compression to foils.
The stronger the compressing the more the orientation of the individual graphite crystals in the plane increases. As a result, the degree of directional dependence (anisotropy) of the conductivity rises. Both features can be controlled in the production in a targeted way - a great advantage in the application of SIGRATHERM high-density graphite foil.
SIGRATHERM HD is easy to handle and can be cut without special tooling. The foil is available in various dimensions and densities as well as purities and is usually sold on rolls.
