The DIABON plate heat exchanger is the most modern and efficient heat exchange technology on the market and was developed in cooperation between Alfa Laval and SGL Carbon.
In general, four different sizes and three different materials are available which offers you a variety of choices. For heating or cooling of corrosive media, DIABON groove heat exchangers are an economic and reliable choice. Especially when a gasket-free heat exchanger made of DIABON graphite is required. Machined graphite plates are directly connected together by SGL Carbon´s cementing technology. No gaskets are present between the plates.
Additionally, this design with a turbulent flow arrangement is very efficient, thus requiring very small installation space and is therefore a compact alternative to e.g. annular groove heat exchangers.

Applied to steel columns, reactors and vessels, our universally resistant PTFE linings deliver virtually unlimited corrosion resistance and high mechanical stability, allowing pressures up to 16 bar and temperatures up to 250 °C. Dr. Schnabel's POLYFLURON is ideally suited to highly pure applications.
Our columns, reactors and vessels made of DIABON graphite are fully vacuum resistant. They can cope with pressures up to 3 bar and reach diameters up to 3500 mm.
In addition, we can offer you full package solutions that include column internals made out of graphite or carbon fiber-reinforced carbon.
Our graphite-based quenches are an excellent choice for the treatment of gases in an aggressive chemical environment, and also can withstand gas temperatures up to 1600 °C. Their design, with no moving parts, is extremely robust and is not affected by thermal shock or deformation, while impairment by dust particles is minimized.
SGL Carbon offers pipe quenches for high heat transfer rates or empty pipe quenches which are reducing the risk of fouling.
