We have responded to customer requests for high-temperature resistant and high-purity braided packing yarns with outstanding mechanical properties by developing a new yarn.
This has resulted in the best foil yarn on the market regarding oxidation resistance: The flexible expanded natural graphite yarn SIGRAFLEX APX2, made of SIGRAFLEX APX2 foil already established in the sealing market with Inconel® wire reinforcement.
SIGRAFLEX APX2 yarn combines a number of other unique properties including low friction, high flexibility, and excellent chemical resistance. Also, the yarn does not become brittle over time and just like SIGRAFLEX APX2 foil it exhibits high thermal conductivity so frictional generated heat can be easily transferred.

SGL Carbon’s new oxidation resistant yarn is the only coated textile packing yarn currently meeting the graphite requirements of the Shell specification MESC SPE 85/204 for graphite.
Flat gaskets from SIGRAFLEX ECONOMY graphite sealing sheets are suitable for pumps, fittings and valves, especially for thin gaskets, for unstable flanges with low gasket stresses and for waste gas pipelines, e.g. in incineration plants as well as for raised-face flanges.
